HOW TO SPRUCE UP YOUR HALLWAY THIS SPRING.

HOW TO SPRUCE UP YOUR HALLWAY THIS SPRING.

"PIMP YOUR BOOTROOM"

HIYA! everyone,

This April we are all about PIMPING up that neglected boot room of yours and giving it a little Spring spruce. The hallway is one of the most used spaces of the house, yet we seem to pay little attention to it and it’s probably calling out for some TLC. It’s the place that over the past year has probably got the most viewings, it’s been a place to talk to neighbours, collect ANOTHER Amazon parcel from the post man and it gives people their first impression of your house. I mean I’m not sure the Postie really cares but I know Karen down the road definitely is interested, so let’s make sure we present visitors with a stylish, clutter free zone and fingers crossed they will believe it echoes the rest of the house.

It’s a place where wear and tear is common, kids shoes EVERYWHERE, MUD trampled in from outside, DOG HAIR (the bain of my life) and muddy prints. It’s essentially a dumping ground where we unload all of the toot we have carried around with us, so we can leave the hallway and enter our houses feeling light and airy! Leaving a bomb site behind, who knew the school run could leave so much damage. So, you need to avoid this chaos (as none of us want that extra stress in our lives) and ensure you have a sleek, organised space with plenty of beautiful storage.

I hope you are well and are enjoying the easing of restrictions.  It’s almost strange to say that, as lockdown was beginning to feel so normal, CRAZY! Anyway, I hope you are having sunny meals and drinks out with groups of friends and family.  What a long time we have waited!

Like every month we will be giving away all our secrets with our top tips and tricks! This month it’s how to improve your hallway/ boot room.

  1. If EVERYTHING has a place, I mean everythinggg you will find your space magically tidying itself and you will no longer be losing your keys just before you need to leave the house, I PROMISE.
  2. STORAGE, STORAGE, STORAGE - ensuring you have enough storage to house everything and more, is important and will help step one come into action.
  3.  Use mirrors, yes, they are brill for checking you’ve got no lunch still smothered around your face, but hallways tend to be quite small, narrow and thin spaces so adding a mirror can make your space feel mahhooosiveeeee!
  4. Good lighting- as you all probably know good lighting can make the world of difference. Hallways tend to be quite dark areas of the house, so try to keep paint colours light and bright! However, don’t be afraid to go bold with colour, a small space its fab for going a little crazy, and it’s somewhere where you won’t have to stare at it all day, if it turns out on the second day you hate it!
  5. Choose a hardy good quality paint one that can withstand the scuffs, smears and smudges of day-to-day life and that is wipeable (life saver).
  6. To add a homely touch to what can be quite a boring, bleak space a funky rug or runner can be a fun way to add colour without taking up any much-needed space, also having a fun doormat (seen some great ones over in Oliver Bonas). Practical and look great!
  7. Keep it minimal, try not to overcrowd and try to keep things off the ground. Our hooks and shelves are great for elevating the space and making sure you have as much floor space as possible.

 8.  A great tip I found for hiding those pesky scuffs! 'A horizontal band of colour   at ground level which includes painting the same colour on the skirting board will look great and help to reduce the appearance of scuffs and wear.' – Marianne Shillingfore

 9.  Seating: if you have space, then seating can be a useful addition to a hallway. It could be the perfect spot to escape the chaos of the house to relax and read, somewhere to chat on the phone or simply a space to wait for others to put their shoes on (which I spend half my life doing). Our benches our great as you could fit three little bottoms on them nicely, and it takes up a lot less space than three chairs.

VERY annoying to leave it on 9 but I suppose 10 would be our products here at Tiffany Jayne Designs. Many of our products were designed specifically for the hallway/ boot room/ porch whatever you want to call it! So, we really do want to show them off to you as we think they fit the criteria perfectly and in our opinion are pretty FAB!

Our Rustic, chic apple crate shelves offer excellent storage for any cluttered home.

You also have the option to have coat hooks attached or just the hooks by themselves if space is tight. Our coat hooks have a lovely high end feel about them with quality brass hooks.

I would highly recommend having coat hooks if you haven’t got them already not just for coats but for anything and everything, masks, dog leads, shopping bags, the list goes on. We have designed them to complement our storage stools and benches to make a complete set, however this piece also works beautifully on its own. We feel they make a really functional, statement piece, and can work in places other than the hallway, such as cloakrooms, children’s bedrooms, or utility rooms. We have two sizes: a small one crate shelf or a double, so depending on your space you are sorted.

Our storage benches and boxes, with their lift up lids, couldn’t be more perfect for your hallway, boot room. You can hide all manner of things in these boxes, and no one will know, we recommend shoes though! The storage boxes have a lovely upholstered cushioned seat, perfect for putting your shoes on, instead of using the stairs and getting in the way of stampeding children.

Our Hallway storage sets offer a really sleek organised look and tie the space together beautifully. Having character attached to a home is really important and having something unique and special adds a personal touch. Here at Tiffany Jayne’s, we can personalise our boxes with your name or we can make up any of our products in any fabric that you provide.

Wow! I think we are all hallway experts now! I really hope this has helped give you some ideas on how to “PIMP your Boot room”.  I have to say if I was to recommend one thing from our list of tips and tricks it would be to invest in some fabulous storage solutions and here at Tiffany Jaynes, I think we have that covered!

To help save you some cashola we are doing a 10% discount on all hallway furnishings for this April, and with the pubs now open, with the money you have saved you can go buy yourself a few drinks in a pub garden LOVELY!!!

Thank you for reading, best wishes,

HOW TO GET YOUR OUTSIDE SPACE SPRING/ SUMMER READY

HOW TO GET YOUR OUTSIDE SPACE SPRING/ SUMMER READY

Hellooo everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well,

Today we are coming to you with ideas and tips for how to get your garden and outdoor space Spring and Summer ready! Enlisting the help from our fab, stylish yet practical apple crate outdoor furniture range.

With the glorious Monday 29th March in sight, allowing outdoor gatherings we have lots to look forward to. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for evening fire pits, tanning my ghostly body until I'm burnt to a crisp ( I don’t recommend! ), balmy evening drinks around our bar table, alfresco dinners, BBQS and sunny lunches. With this is mind NOW, yes now is the perfect time to go outside and get your garden ‘spring, summer ready’ and in good shape to receive guests again or just for you!

Our top tips for creating a Spring / Summer outdoor haven:

  • Good combination of style and practicality- We all know the British weather can be seriously unpredictable! So, choosing pieces that are durable and that won’t just last one summer are worth the investment.
  • Fire pits- over the last couple of years we have regularly set light to our fire pit; it’s great for those summer evenings when it’s just too nice to go inside, it keeps you and your guests lovely and toasty and gives off a great festival vibe, especially when we can’t move the gathering inside until a few weeks later. We bought a large circular griddle for ours so it can be doubled up as a BBQ, its fab!
  • Area of shade - When we are blessed with a scorcher of a day it’s important to have shade whether that be by the use of plants, trees or sail shades. Creating a quiet cool space perfect for reading.
  • Bringing the inside out - With all of us being stuck indoors all this time it’s nice to bring some familiarity out with us! Ha-ha! By bringing cushions, blankets and rugs out it can create a really lovely, homely boho feel. Just remember to bring it all in! Also saves a lot of CASHOLA, why buy outdoor cushions when we already have so many inside!
  • Fairy lights – I don’t know about you, but twinkly LED lights can work miracles, lighting up your outside space beautifully. You can get some really great solar powered ones that turn on automatically and look FAB.
  • Get planting! – March is the perfect time to get your green fingers in action. Start planting your bedding plants, sowing seeds and your garden will look magical in the upcoming months, hopefully bringing bees and gorgeous smells along with it. Magnolia, Blossom and Rose are all great to go in now if you're in need of filling a larger space.
  • Herb garden - A great addition to a garden, easy to maintain, can be used for all the summery, delicious cuisine, or cocktails and makes you feel like you’re in the South of France, filling you garden with the most gorgeous aromas!
  • Invest in some good quality stylish furniture (preferably Tiffany Jayne designs! ;)) – We have invested the time in making our gardens look beautiful, let’s make sure we have the furniture to match! We are all looking forward to spending time with our friends, let’s make sure it is in style! Treat yourself to a little extra comfort, design and durability this year.

Our outdoor apple crate furniture collection brings both functionally and vibrance to your outdoor space. We offer a lovely bright coral red for those who wish to inject some colour into their lives, a lovely deep navy blue and a creamy white for those who love the sleek look and don’t worry, white can raise alarm bells with those sticky ice lollies about! But all our fabrics can be WIPED! Our outdoor furniture is made using vintage style apple crates, they are raised off the ground with rubber feet to prevent the wood sitting on wet surfaces, the lids are hinged and upholstered in 12-ounce canvas which is a Polyester / Cotton mix. This fabric is perfect for use outside due to it being flame retardant, water, rot and mildew resistant.  All our apple crate furniture opens up which makes them perfect for tidying away garden tools, outdoor toys, logs for the fire pit, cushions, blankets, magazines, dog toys or BBQ utensils - the list goes on!

All of our products work great in any space small or large as the wooden base allows them to fit in more with the natural settings that surround.

Having an outdoor bar can be a really fun way to entertain guests. Our bar stools are perfect for transporting you to your favourite beach bar abroad. They are also good for those higher raised tables or for little ones who need that extra boost at the table. Another great thing about these is the higher the stool the more storage, so more space to hide things!

We then have our storage benches and stools, these are perfect for your average outdoor table or on their own in a cluster like below.

Finally, our footstools are the perfect addition to your favourite reading chair and the long are perfect for those who are good at sharing (can't say I am!). They make a perfect outdoor ottoman, where you can place your books, wine, and nibbles on to enjoy in the sun! And if you’re feeling really boujee and you’re a keen gardener, one of our footstools would make a perfect cushioned kneeling stool to tackle those pesky raised beds, and a place to store your trowel and gloves.

The variety of height in our range makes it really nice to mix and match a good combo, maybe a storage bench and footstool. I also think it’s fun to mix and match with the colours to add interest and inject some colour to darker shady spots in your outdoor space.

I hope this helps somewhat; we are FINALLY, soon to be out of lockdown. It’s great to have a target to focus and look forward to - before you know it, we will be celebrating in our beautiful gardens with friends and family and a few too many Pimm’s, SOAKING UP THOSE RAYS!

To help you whip your outdoor space into shape for the exciting and special times ahead  – we are offering a 10% discount code across our outdoor range using the code OUTDOOR10 for the whole of March! So, let’s bring on Spring and Summer we're ready!

Warmest wishes xo,

Tips on surviving home schooling, and how our apple crate storage can help!

Tips on surviving home schooling, and how our apple crate storage can help!

Hello! Hi! Heya!,

Welcome to our new Tiffany Jayne Designs blog where we will discuss all things home, general chatter and how you can incorporate our fabulous apple crate storage and bespoke furnishings into your lives!

HOME SCHOOLING! Where do I begin… it’s been a journey!

Many of us have gone from 0-100, from helping out a little with homework, to teaching assistant, dinner lady, break-time assistant and Mum/Dad in the space of no time at all. I don’t know about you, but this has been a bit of a shock to the system! Thankfully, it’s now all becoming slightly more normal and I have had a chance to think about what has worked and what hasn’t. I’m sure many of us started with Joe Wicks every day and trying not to let the kids stay in their PJs but now I feel we are all just surviving and if that means the kids stay in their PJs on the odd day then so be it, everything in moderation. However, with that being said I have compiled a few tips of how to survive more easily in this STRANGE time in the hope that it helps some of you, after all we’re all in this mess together!

 TOP TIPS-

  1. Start at the same time each day- I know it can be incredibly hard sometimes to get everyone out of their PJ’s before 10am but, by adding a routine it keeps some normality in this CRAZY world and can help productivity massively.
  1. Use/ create different spaces for different activities - Slumping over the same desk all day everyday can be repetitive and can make you feel sluggish. So, introducing new, snazzy spaces for different subjects and breaks, can be a really fun way to break up the day.
  1. Structure your day like a school day- By having a set time for lunch, breaks and lessons it really helps with powering on through and helps to retain some normality for your child.
  1.  Write a plan with your kids- Getting your kids to help schedule out the day means A LOT fewer arguments and helps them just crack on.
  1.  EXERCISE- My number one tip is to GET OUTSIDE! However rainy and miserable the weather maybe it is worth it and I assure you will feel a 1000,000,000 times better and ready to battle the next zoom call.
  1.  Finish at the same time- having that set 3:30pm goal works wonders.
  1.  Introduce a bit of NEW into your workspace- Only with Tiffany Jayne Designs products, OF COURSE ;) There’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy to spark some motivation and excitement within the house!

 8. Pinterest- If your still hungry for more tips, have a look on our Pinterest               @tiffanyjayn0267 we have a sole board dedicated to home-schooling with innovative ideas on how to make learning FUN.

And lastly…

  1. Don’t be so hard on yourself- Were in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC! If your child misses a deadline or the odd lesson, it’s not the end of the world. Were all doing the best we can. So, don’t stress if you have a few extra glasses of Vino or that Dairy Milk bar on a Friday night, YOU DESERVE IT! (If you managed dry Jan this year HOW?! Hats off, but HOW?)

Since we are spending SOO much time at home, treating yourselves and adding something NEW, can really help to lift your spirits. Our breakfast bar stools are perfect for home-schooling, with good lighting (an ESSENTIAL in a workspace) these can boost you up to new levels. They are completely personalisable (made up word) which can provide a real excitement for your child to have his or her name on the stool (not quite Hollywood Boulevard, but close!). Sharing doesn’t often come easily to children, so by having one stool each, with their name and chosen fabric, means no more arguments over who sits where, and they will be excited to get learning!

The stools have GLORIOUS amounts of storage so they can each put their books, iPad, water bottles, pencil cases etc. inside, and you never know, they might even enjoy tidying everything away at the end of the day (now that really would be a shock to the system!). And when/if we ever return to normal, they are great for all things toys and toot! Another great home-schooling addition is our storage benches, which have double the amount of storage, look fab, are incredibly comfortable and could easily fit two little tots on.

Furthermore, if you really want to bring school to your home, why not give them their own pegs in the fabric of their choice. I have to say a little more stylish than the average school pegs! Lastly don’t forget about our ottomans great for plonking the kids in front of the TV at the end of the day and there’s enough storage to hold all their needs that you won’t be disturbed for a while.

For the parents, we have our foot stools, perfect for a secret stash of wine, choccy’s and salty snacks, so you don’t even have to leave your seat when you’re midway through Bridgeton! ;)

I hope your all keeping safe and well.  Don’t miss next month’s blog “PIMPING you boot room”, cant wait!

Ps. If you have any q’s or want to chat home-schooling leave a comment below or DM me on insta.
